Another ID verified site

Tired of fake or outdated photo's?  Inaccurate physical descriptions?  Truth stretching in profiles has become fairly common.

HonestyFirst.com  focuses on a key foundation of a meaningful relationship; honesty. Their patent pending system “Real Profile TM” promotes profile honesty. In addition to this technology they have partnered with a company that verifies age, location and personal histories of its members through ID verification and criminal background checks.

Verified Person

This background checking company's mission includes making internet dating more secure.   In its second round of funding, Verified Person has collected $12 million as corporations and government agencies have shown interest  in the verification technology. Verified Person Gets $12M Background-checking startup vows to help bring trust back into Internet interactions. January 12, 2006 Verified Person, the background-checking firm that got its start screening online daters, has picked up $12 million in its second round of funding as corporations and government agencies have bought into the technology. CEO Tal Moise's dating experience inspired the startup company.  His first online date was married. “I found out through her husband,” he said.  Another date kept a child's existence hidden from Mr. Moise.

Snooping on Your Date

Learning about a potential date may involve a bit of internet detective work.  While such investigating may be justified, it can cross over into areas of invasion of privacy.  I know I have put someone's name, location and some other bit of info into Google, and suddenly I feel like a stalker, knowing of organizations they belong to and what they were wearing at last years Christmas party.  If I ever have a daughter I will change her last name to Smith!

Online Dating Business Conference

Ticonderoga Ventures, Inc. today announced  the agenda for the upcoming
Internet Dating Conference, scheduled for February 2-3, 2006 at the Wyndham Miami Beach Resort.  This business event for the online personals industry will focus on profits and retaining customers.  Online dating and networking has grown into a large industry, so it is no surprise that these executives are using the power of conventions to develop profitable ideas.  And it's a decent excuse for them to head to Miami in February too!

One Key Away

In a development similar to the cell phone bluetooth dating, One Key Away uses microprocessors and compatibility software in keychain sized devices.  The company is reporting good results at mixers promoted at New York and California.  In a Jan 1st 2006 Press release, the event hosting company says "OneKeyAway Mixers set up a cool and hip atmosphere for professionals who want to meet other professional or different people with complementary personalities to their own in an interactive, unpressured, and face-to-face environment." OneKeyAway Mixers hosts mixer events in Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, New York and Washington DC.
The company seems tilted  toward the single professional crowd.  (hey this isn't for amateurs)  I suppose it will be a while before the MatchlinCdevice features your favorite NASCAR drivers colors and number.  Just as well...imagine the stampedes in the infield.

Cell Phone Dating

Ok, if you've been dating for a while chances are your cell phone has been a big part of your experience. A mobile phone is great for coordinating meetings and storing new names and numbers. Some dating sites have begun to incorporate text messaging into the options, so now even when you are away from your computer you can get cheesy "Wow you're HOT!!" messages from overseas. Isn't this a great time we live in?!

A New Era for the Singles Bar?

A developing idea for cell phones and dating involves bluetooth technology. True Blue Love is a mobile phone dating experience. With a program running on your phone some basic preferences are entered so a love metric can be calculated. When another phone running the software comes within a few meters, if the love metric yields a match the phone sounds a pre-selected mating call. Developers of this program think this will help to undermine the silent technology of text messaging, and possibly the goofy sounds will act as an icebreaker, broadcasting someones desires in a surprising way.

Changes underway at American Singles

American Singles members received a special email last week. The dating site is rolling out a new look and a few new features while keeping the current funtionality.

Some changes I can guess at from the promo presentation are;

  • Less scrolling to see matches, they are arranged in columns.
  • A more open looking feel with happy smiling people playing with their hair... :)
  • Chat room and Video chat.

New features are due out sometime this week.
